Expanded Tableau MCP Support
Loupe now supports the latest Tableau MCP v2.21.1 capabilities, giving you new ways to work with Tableau views directly from the extension.
List Views
Browse and discover all available views within a Tableau workbook.
Get View Image
Generate and preview images of Tableau views directly within Loupe.
Get View Data
Retrieve data from a selected Tableau view for further analysis and exploration.
These capabilities are available through Tableau MCP, but instead of deploying and configuring your own MCP server, you can access them directly from Loupe.
What Makes This Different?
Tableau MCP is a powerful framework, but using it typically requires server deployment, environment configuration, and authentication management.
Loupe for Tableau delivers the same capabilities through a ready-to-use Tableau extension, allowing teams to focus on analyzing data rather than maintaining infrastructure.
Choose Your Data Source
You can now control exactly which data Loupe uses when generating responses.
Datasources
Query and analyze all available Tableau data sources.
Dashboard Data
Restrict analysis to the data used by the current dashboard only.
This is particularly useful when dashboards combine multiple data sources and you want to focus on the data currently visible to users.
Choose Your Preferred LLM
Version 1.0.6 introduces model selection for supported LLM providers, allowing you to choose the model that best fits your requirements.
Supported providers include:
-Claude (Anthropic)
-DeepSeek
+OpenAI
+Grok (xAI)
You can switch between models depending on your needs, whether you're optimizing for reasoning quality, performance, language support, or cost.
Additional Improvements
We've also made several enhancements across the platform:
Improved system prompts for better understanding of Tableau context
Enhanced response processing for greater reliability across LLM providers
Refined user interface for working with models, data sources, and Tableau views
